Night time photography became a big thing in the smartphone photography arena from 2018 on-wards. The Night Sight mode in Pixel 3 launched in November 2018. Google’s Pixel line up of devices were already famous for the great still images they captured in daylight. With the introduction of Night Sight feature, Pixel devices extended their dominance into nighttime photography as well. 2019, proved to be the year of night-time photography in smartphones. Smartphones like Galaxy S10 series by Samsung and P30 Pro by Huawei boasted their own night mode. The night mode in Huawei P30 Pro especially proved to be a great success with its RYYB color sensor and the ability to shoot images in pitch darkness as well. Oneplus also introduced nightscape feature in Oneplus 7 and 7Pro followed by 7T and 7TPro. Apple, not one to be left behind introduced automatic night mode in its iPhone 11 series launched in September 2019. The trend continues to be dominant in 2020 as well.
In this post, I will be sharing with you some of my experiments with nighttime photography.
